Yesterday was a nutty day. To some it may seem like a fairly normal day, but for me, I am used to staying at home with Isabelle all day, with no surprises, and going to work where nothing exciting happens. I eat the same food, do the same things and even watch the same movies over and over again. That is how I like life. I love traditions and the "same ol' same ol' " its my favorite. Dont get me wrong I am not completely boring, I like exciting and new things as long as they are expected
Anyway, my day yesterday was just very different for me, and by the end of it, I was so exhausted from all the surprises that I felt the need to post on Facebook that it had been a "nutty nutty day".
Before the day even started I knew it was going to be a little different, but that was fine cause I knew what to expect-- I was going to drop some people off at the Orthodontist at 8:00, then some others at UVU right after that. Then, I was going to come home, pick up Isabelle and go to a WIC appointment at 12:00. Then come home and eat the same lunch I always did, and play the same games with Isabelle that we always played. Then at 3:00 I was going to go to work where I would quietly direct traffic for an hour and then come home and have a nice evening and relax.
*just to help you visualize it, I found these surprises out in the order they are presented.
Surprise #1-at My Mom and Branden Decided that they wanted more time getting ready for tests so I was going to drop the Orthodontist people off, then come home, pick the UVU people up and take them there.
Surprise #2- We got to the Orthodontist to find out the appointment was actually tomorrow.
Surprise #3- I got home and my phone alerted me that My WIC appointment was actually at 9:00, so that meant I was in a hurry and I had to take Isabelle with me to drop everyone else off.
Surprise #4- Isabelle had a very high fever and Branden set up a Doctors appointment for her at 11:00
Surprise #5- After dropping my mom and Branden off, I had to drive East to the WIC appointment and the sun was stunningly bright in that direction. It was so bright that everyone was driving 10 mph under the speed limit (remember I was in a hurry). Also, all of the squinting that I did during this drive gave me a grand headache.
Surprise #6- I got to the office to discover my appointment was at 10:30... but luckily they decided to squeeze me in at 9:30.
After my successful WIC appointment, I took, Isabelle to the doctor where there were no Surprises, which I was grateful for.
Surprise #7- by the time I got home after shopping for formula and picking up my mom from school it was 1:00 so I took a nap and woke up at 3:05. I had work at 3
Surprise #8- At work I direct the traffic of parents picking up the children from school. It is a very organized system. My job is to keep the flow moving so that people stay happy. I got to work to find that a lady had parked illegally and it messed up the entire flow of traffic.
Surprise #9- A little while later, another lady, for some reason, did not want to pull forward, which made the flow even worse.
Surprise #10- At the end of my shift, after almost all of the kids had been picked up, a man decided that I was a horrible person for not letting him park in the fire lane, and so, he yelled, and yelled and yelled at me -- to the point where I was scared for my safety and the safety of the kids.
The man finally stormed off and I went home. There was a nice surprise there: the house was spotlessly cleaned! At 6 we went Sarah's concert at the elementary school. It was fun and Sarah looked and sounded amazing on her trumpet. This brings me to my last surprise.
Surprise #11- As we started leaving the school I heard a screaming coming from the gym. Just then a boy came running out and recognized me as a safety officer (the title of my position directing traffic) He told me that a boy fell down and thought he broke his foot. I rushed into the gym to the boy who was laying of the floor crying. It took a while to find his parents but meanwhile I had to keep him calm.
See, it was not that crazy of a day, it just was for me.
