When we moved to the Final Frontier I decided I would use it as an opportunity to be a better home-maker. I'm still no pro, but I have made some serious progress, and that's exciting to me, so I thought I would share:
GUYS. I CAN MAKE BREAD!!! and I do, at least twice a week, even though I am kneading by hand. Mothers of past generations would laugh that I think that's hard, but I am the only one of my friends, that I know of, that does not use a mixer or Bosch or bread maker. Don't get me wrong, the second we can afford one, I am buying myself a Bosch! asap(in like 10 years give or take)
I am adding variety to my dinner menu and I am making table worthy dinners much more often (3 times a month is easy to beat, no I am not joking) Branden and the girls seem to appreciate the new meals. The three I made before are good... they just get old when you eat them once a month for 4 years.
I am making more desserts. We are not eating more desserts, we have just switched from ice cream and oreos to peanut butter cookies and brownies.
I am branching out more. Once I just completely made up a meal off the top of my head, and man! it was Yummy!
I am keeping the house clean. I have always been pretty good at this but I've gotten even better, probably partly cause we don't have any stuff to mess up the house with, but also cause I am working hard.
I am increasing my scripture study and pondering. I was really good at this before kids, but I am finally getting good at making time for those spiritually edifying things despite the increased distractions.
I have been working really hard to put Branden first. I never want him to feel like an after thought in any way.
I know I will still have bad days, months, and years, but these past few months have been really good and I wanted to share that. Because, even though being a wife and mother can be hard, busy and lonely, it is actually mostly awesome and exciting if we let it be.
Keep it Simple
Keep it Fun
&
Enjoy
You are awesome!
