Perfect Day

We have a tendency to constantly post and blog about the tiny and big negatives in our lives. So, I want to take some time to talk about my perfect morning.

The girls let me sleep in until about 10. Branden had already left to work and I felt totally rested. I could hear the girls laughing with each-other while I took extra time waking up. The room was perfectly cool, and the blankets were perfectly warm.
After about half an hour of just thinking peacefully and texting Branden during his break, I went to the girls room and was greeted by smiling faces. We changed diapers, made breakfast, and prayed that we would have a happy day. There was minimal throwing of the scrambled eggs during breakfast. Isabelle and Kaylee both seemed surprised by the delicious new treat we discovered: pink oranges. Juicy, sweet, and pretty. I thought they were normal oranges and was confused when they looked like grapefruit (which is too bitter for me to enjoy), but these turned out to be amazing!
After breakfast, I told Isabelle to grab her hammer so we could fix our tree that was falling off the wall. We hammered together to some of my favorite Christmas tunes.

Now the tree was perfect again, and I even found a way to secure our ornaments along the felt ones.

The tree was done, but the music was still playing, so naturally, we had a Christmas sing off and dance party. We sang, mostly off tune, to Blue Christmas, Ave Maria, and white Christmas.
Then we danced to a bunch more.
After our little Christmas kick-off, we made pumpkin bread.
Isabelle splashed in the sink
and Kaylee watched George
while I cleaned.

The house is tidy and the smell of pumpkin-spice is beginning to fill the air. The girls are eating more pink oranges, and loving every bite.

I did not plan any of this. I know it was a gift from Heavenly Father. I have been praying for the Christmas spirit, and I am really feeling it now.
Life happens, and our mornings are not always this beautiful, but I am grateful for the spirit and the meaning of this season.
This has also given me renewed motivation to be a more peaceful mom :)
Christmas has always been my favorite time of year, and I am learning to love it even more. I know that Jesus Christ was born and that he lives again. I am grateful for my family and our wonderful and hectic days of learning together.
Most of all, I know God lives and loves me, and he is glad that I had such a beautiful, spirit-filled morning.
