Daniel

My Awesome brother Daniel come up to visit us last week. It was totally amazing to have him here, and I am really glad that he came up :) I needed some time with by BFF big brother.

Here are some of the things we did:
Northern Lights: The Alaska Famous Northern Lights were out the night Daniel got here. They were pretty dim, but present. That was cool.
Park: He arrived around midnight on Thursday so his first official day was Friday. Branden had work all day, so we just took it easy. It ended up being just barely warm enough to walk to the park (40 degrees). So we did. Naturally, the girls warmed up to Daniel really quickly and loved playing with him on all of the spinny toys.

After walking home, we enjoyed a couple cups of Hot Chocolate and took naps.
Saturday was Fairly uneventful, we played at home and had dinner with the missionaries.
Dinner Sunday was the day I made my Chicken and Rice that I was so proud of (see previous post). It felt really good having a Sunday family dinner again after so long!
Anchorage: On Tuesday we gave Daniel a little tour of the City. Our goal was to show him the ocean so we just decided to drive in the right direction until we found it. We ended up finding a cute little park with a great view:
during the drive. I took a lot of selfies during his trip. as you will see

I love that these two are such good friends!
Isabelle and Kaylee were good sports about all of the pictures
We somehow Managed to forget the girls coats so after a little sight seeing and a few pushes on the swings we headed to get some food.
Mooses Tooth: Within my first week of living in Alaska, at least 5 different people told me that I HAD to go to Mooses Tooth. We tried it out before and enjoyed it, so we decided to give Daniel a little taste of some authentic Alaskan Pizza. haha jk, its just like normal fancy pizza, but it was pretty good. Their bread sticks are what do it for me, SO GOOD!!!!.

Diamond Center: We had some shopping to do so we spent some time the next day at the Diamond Center Mall, which has a skating rink inside. We ate at the food court and then split up. Daniel, Branden, and Kaylee went to the Geek store for some cards, while Isabelle and I went to H&M for the big-girl panties I promised her. While we were there, I may have impulse bought some new sweats... it was worth it, they make me feel both comfy and comfy --cause sometimes that is all that matters. :)
Work: Unfortunately, the week that Daniel was here was my busiest week of Resident managering ever . He was a good sport about it, and even helped me out a ton! He ended up working at least 15 hours and I worked a total of 30 in 3 days :( YUCK! but we used it as an excuse for all of the eating out we did --we earned it!
Glacier. We drove up to Portage Glacier in hopes that the snow was not compeltely covering it... but it was. The drive was still beautiful. on our way back down we hit the Jackpot! we found a random trail that ended up leading to a cool little glacier/avalanche thing (blue ice trial near black bear campground). It was humble, but something about it was awe inspiring. Plus, there was a little pound that was fund to throw rocks into.
Fish: After the glacier, we changed, got a sitter and headed back to town for some freshly caught fish. It was pretty good... acroding to the boys. I had the Chicken Parm, fish makes me feel sick :(

Snow: We were surprised by a big dump of snow Saturday Morning. We took full advantage:

Cards and Movies: Daniel Branden and I played a lot of cards while he was here, and I mean A LOT!

It was really fun to have him out, and I cannot wait until his next visit.
Thanks Daniel.
