Memorial Day Weekend

Yay for Memorial Day! None of my family members are burried anywhere near us so for memorial day we did things a little differently. We were each given a flag and were taken to the local cemetary (one of my favorite places actually, it had amazing views). We were instructed to go split up, find a vetrans grave, and place a flag in the ground above it. Branden and I found more than one, but we placed our flag above Richard Green Wood Paxman, U.S Navey of WWII.
It turned out to be a great activity and was a nice way to show our appreciation for those who have surved our contry.
We thought this one was pretty neat too. What a woman!
Later on in the day we headed down to Utah lake with some snacks and Dads new boat! He has wiated so long for this boat; it is so fun to see him finally being able to do somethings for himslef after sacrificing so much for the family. Of course the boat is what the family wants too. We have all been missing Grandpa Finch's lake (which is evident in the fact that we have been to the lake almost every weekend since he bought the boat a month ago!) Paulo, one of Branden and Andrew's mission friends came along too. I was given the task of carrying the giant tube to our spot on the side of the lake. This tube is huge and i seriously doubted that I could do it alone. I called over to Sarah (9 years old now) asking for assistance. I expected her to grab the end while I dragged most of the mass. However, without hesitation, Sarah climed under the tube, strung both arms through two handels like it was a back pack and with an enthusiastic, "LETS GO!" bet in half so that the tube lifted off the ground and all of the weight was on her shoulders. She began to waddle toward our destination as I carried the dragging end. It was such a funny sight! Soon, Paulo came to help. It was a great moment for me! I could not help but take a picture.
While half of the pary was on the boat, the other half was on land doing, well, this:
Samuel and Sarah took the Kayak out for a spin
Then Hannah and I gave it a go.
While Samuel and Sarah skipped rocks,
Hannah and I enjoyed the view
Finally we got our turn on the boat and had a balst! (I wish I had more pictures but my camera died)
Happy Memorial Day!!!
